Rocking new hair colour & Giorgio Armani Eyes To Kill Silk Shadows

So 3 days post-salon hair colour my head feels like it's about to explode from the allergic response to the dye being slapped on my scalp, just the same as my at-home attempts. First day I've styled it and am very happy with the dark, cool mahogany colour and the layered cut that did 't sacrifice much length (phew!). All will be good in 2 weeks once I'm off the zombifying antihistamines and Nurofen for the swelling head. It's been much worse in the past so I'm not complaining nor am I happy enough with my boring medium-brown natural hair colour to leave the bottle of dye alone...

First day using a lot of these products today after finally uploading my latest massive US Haul (Friends & Family at Sephora too hard to resist!). Used a few of the Eyes To Kill Silk Eyeshadows, and really do like them. They do however remind me exactly of the Loreal Infallible Eyeshadows which have been in Australia for the last 6 - 12 months, but have only just launched in the USA. If the colour offerings from Loreal are enough to satisfy you, I say save your cash and go for those instead... Will have to do a comparison video.

Loved also my Hourglass Aura Cheek Stain in Petal (absolutely mofo-ing gorgeous), and also the Lipfusion in Crave- a beautiful peachy colour that feels beautiful on the lips- like it's doing some plumping work without stinging or burning. In. Love.

Plus on another bright note, I'm too afraid to officially declare but I'm suspecting that my el cheapo Designer Brands Lash Growth stuff may finally be making a difference... Stay tuned...

Neutral FOTD using Make Up For Ever Aqua Creams

Broke out my brand new Make Up For Ever Aqua Creams and they are gorgeous, but you do have to work fast. As per most cream products for me, it takes extra attention to make sure it doesn't cake up in my inner corner area. Haven't worn the Maybelline makeup for a while but I do like the finished look with that buildable foundation. I won't say it's my favourite foundation ever, but it is a lovely formulation, which I applied today with a 187 brush and was very happy with the result (a little heavier than with the Beauty Blender). Fell in love all over again with my Tarte Cheek Stain- they look so beautifully blended with so little effort- absolute love, even after all these years. I'm thinking I want a shade lighter in the Estée Lauder Maximum Cover for my undereyes if I'm wanting them brightened a bit...the one downer today was the mascara. A couple layers of that Covergirl Lash Blast Waterproof and each lash had a little 'elbow' at the end, with 'extensions' built with the mascara going off in all sorts of random angles- yerk!! Enjoyed the lip combo with the whole look in general.

Tarte Olive Branch FOTD & EOTD

Went for an olivey green look today using my Tarte neutralEYES vol.2 palette. There's beautiful neutrals in that palette and to give the greenest shade in the palette and bit more of a pop, I layered it over Inglot's lead green long wearing matte eyeliner all over the lid. A great look for brown eyes. LOVE that Laura Mercier Lip Glacé in Bellini- it was free with a recent purchase at Myer (haul coming soon).

Wishing you peace leading up to the big day for many here. Not an easy thing to master in December!

I used different colours and from
Inglot but wanted an orangey- peach in the crease with a plum on the lid. I added a grey/lavender in the inner corner, and was pleased with how this came out.

My Holiday Party FOTD & EOTD

Had to get a bit glammed up for my work Christmas do. I love having an excuse to go dark and dramatic . The Chanel Illusion d'Ombre is not only beautiful for shimmer on the eye, but it's a perfect colourless sparkle on cheekbones collarboned & décolletage- I felt like a female version of Twilight's Edward standing in the sunlight- it gives amazing diamond-like sparkle without glittery chunk - it's completely invisible when the light is not hitting it. Just an absolutely gorgeous product. Have been a bit in love lately with Benefit's Thrrrob as well- shows up on my NC30 face quite nicely- a lovely cool tone pinky mauve that you can build. I'm surprised to discover it goes with a lot of different looks.

Comfort Zone FOTD & EOTD

Really enjoyed the Shiseido SPL Foundation today. It's a lovely light to medium coverage, applies beautifully, lovely fragrance, and wears very nicely throughout the day. Also love the Revlon Lip Butter in Creme Brule- beautiful shade. I can see why people enjoy the shade definitely, but also can't understand why they're getting hyped quite as much as they are. That's YouTube hype though I guess isn't it?
Fell in love all I we again this morning with Wet n Wild's Comfort Zone palette- it really is gorgeous and I eouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone- simply gorgeous. Wish it had a matte highlight (Brule), but that's it. Other than that, I think it's absolutely perfect in every way : )

purple flare eotd & fotd

Used Sigma's Flare Eyeshadow palette for the first time today and thought it was great- lovel, pigmented, blendable shades. Also trying out MAC's Studio Sculpt foundation for the first time today and quite like it. Applied it with a #187 as recommended by the MUA, but would like to play with it more. I initially felt it may have caked a little around the nose (too much powder maybe) as well as a bit of pore defining cakiness around my cheekbones. Want to see how I like it applying it some other way so may try my Beauty Blender next time. All suggestions from experience welcome!

fun with colour combinations

Had a play with Urban Decay Pigment in X on the lid, Inglot shadows in vibrant oranges (AMC Shine 10 & AMC 51) above and around the crease with a warm matte grey (Matte 376) in the crease, and light aqua (AMC Shine 24) applied over Chanel black liner that had already been blended out with MAC carbon on the lower lashline. The effect was a gorgeous green. Love watching combinations decide for themselves what they'll do! Whacked on a bit of Nyx Jumbo Milkiness and Urban Decay 24/7 Liquid Liner in Perversion And some falsies, and I think the effect was quite lovely...

Golden NARS Isolde Eyeshadow Duo FOTD & EOTD

I bought quite a few NARS eyeshadow duos recently from their website using a 20% discount they'd sent me. I've always enjoyed their shadows and  find them so pigmented, absolutely gorgeous colours, and are so beautifully blendable. Blushingpixie has a great video on Youtube showing her collection and swatches which helped me immensely when deciding which ones to pick. I received them in a humungous US haul that my sister sent me months ago now (thanks Laini!). 

I attempted to film the haul at the end of a very long day and I was totally exhausted. I look awful and my voice is so tired and I'm not my usual self in it. I cannot bring myself to upload it. Maybe I'll redo it someday, but in the meantime, I had to crack into a NARS duo and give this Isolde a whirl. Temptalia posted recently hoeicj she loved it. Beautiful. I did get some help from a few other shades (Too Faced & MAC- thank you!), and really enjoyed this golden bronzey look today. Not that it's the season in Australia, but this one really is a perfect duo for fall/ autumn.

Another look using the Elizabeth Arden Beauty Treasures gift set from their Holiday 2011 offerings, using the eyeshadow palette, blush and lipstick. Even got a compliment on this one today!

When I do wear a vibrant colour on the lid, I try to avoid going over the top with it Mimi-style (if you ever watched Drew Carey, which I didn't, but I knew who that blue shadowed lady was!), by keeping colour to the lid, and blending out with a softer more neutral tone in the crease.
