Simple, Fast & Neutral Goss-Inspired EOTD

I was inspired today by a recent Youtube video that Wayne Goss recently did with a beautiful young model (click here to see the Lily Collins "Mirror Mirror" tutorial: http://youtu.be/2iof2BRZgjY), keeping the eyes very simple using 3 brown shades only (2 gradients for eyelid & browbone, and the third for eyeliner) reminiscent of Bobbi Brown & Kevyn Aucoin in the 90's. Using none of my regular everyday 'tricks' of highlighting browbones & inner corners, or contouring the crease, this look comes up surprisingly polished for the minimal effort, time and technique that it requires. I think I've discovered my quick out the door/ no fuss look! Gotta love gossmakeupartist! Wayne, don't lie, I know you're watching - you're a star!

Wherever you may be, may you have a fabby day full of wonder and surprise,

- Jodi xo

Purple & Pink EOTD inspired by makeupbytiffanyd

Inspired by makeupbytiffanyd's recent Purple & Pink Spring Makeup Youtube Tutorial (click here to see it: http://youtu.be/EOBlk-8sv28), I created this vibrant purple eye today, pairing it with pretty neutral cheeks and lips. I'm pleased with the way this turned out and even received a few compliments to boot.

I'm experimenting again with the Cle de Peau concealer and Revlon PhotoReady concealer since the Cle got yesterday's vote, but I also want to allow for the lighting variations I have on each side of my face as well as the possibility that I have more darkness and circles on the right side. So, a huge thanks to those who contributed their thoughts yesterday as to whether they saw a difference between the undereyes on each side. I'd love to hear from you one more time about your thoughts today. Cheers!

Have a beautiful, blessed day,

- Jodi xo

My Everyday Bright Bronzy EOTD

I'm back!

I flew back into Perth 2 days ago after a couple weeks in the US with my girls to visit family. We're exhausted and jet-lagged, but there is not much that can make this girl feel more human than getting my hands back into my stash and doing my face up! I feel like I know which planet I'm on again- aaaah!

I'm experimenting today with Cle de Peau concealer under my left eye and Revlon PhotoReady under the right, to compare how they initially conceal and also how they wear throughout the day. I recently mentioned the Cle de Peau as a Miss for me since the benefits simply do not justify the pricetag. Can you see a difference in these pics? For me, it's a decent enough concealer but I wouldn't pay more than $20 for it in the Australian market ($15 in the US at the most to me...).

I hope you have a beautiful day wherever you may be, and that all you Aussies and Kiwis get a chance on this ANZAC day to remember all who have served to protect the beautiful countries and relative freedom we enjoy today.

Bronze Smokey Eye with NYX

I really like the little 9 shade eyeshadow palette I have from Nyx called the Bronze Smokey Eye Palette. It has a little pull-out drawer underneath witv lip colour that I don't care too much about, but I really like this for travel, since it offers 9 shades to choose from in a compact little square. The shadows are certainly not near the best you'll ever experience, but they're decent, and for less than $10, I think this is a really great value product.

I'm also really enjoying my Essence Lipstick, "In the Nude". Even at less than $5 in Australian Target, this offers brilliant value and is a gorgeous everyday nude shade. Definitely highly recommended.

Hope you have a great day!

Wake Me Up Naked 2 FOTD

This is my second day using Rimmel's new Wake Me Up Foundation, after being asked on YouTube to check it out. It appallingly has only 4 shades to choose from in my Priceline, but miraculously, True Ivory is a pretty good match for me. It's definitely a dewy, glowier foundation that would lend itself well to dry / combo skin but mine tends to have a bit too much greasiness in spots throughout the day. I'm trying to decide if I like it or not since I'm so used to matte after all these years (yet really enjoy Sheer Glow from NARS), and I certainly don't want to look dead around the temples (if you watch my YouTube vids, you'll know what I'm taking about...). Under some lights it looks absolutely fantastic, then under other lights I realize it's not doing my pores any favours, I'm getting an oily breakthrough and it's rubbing off quite easily around the edges of my face. Will play with primers and powders a bit more before I make my mind up, so stay tuned!

Loved the Naked 2 palette today. My goodness I have a thing for Verve! It is such a spectacular shade. The brush I'm not a huge fan of. The flat shader side is great- perfect size for me for packing colour on the lid, but the blending side is such a let down. It's so stiff that it moves your lid around in a most uncomfortable fashion making it very difficult to blend much at all. I'm currently enjoying my Rae Morris brushes much better! Look out for an upcoming review hopefully within the next month.

Wherever you are, I hope you're gearing up for a lovely weekend. Today I'm so thankful Aussies have the 4 day Easter weekend tradition. I missed that so very much when living in the US- to work Good Friday made for a Not-So-Good Friday! It was just all wrong, after growing up in Oz, religion aside.

Have a good one,
- Jodi xo

simple eye, rosy lip FOTD

A very simple, quick look today. The #54 in the Bourjois Flower Perfection is a better match for me than the #53. Really enjoying how easy this applies- perfect for a speedy morning, beautiful finish that lasts well through the day too.

Have a beautiful day wherever you may be,

- Jodi xo
